Having recently become frustrated at cut & paste of characters for Old English, both original characters and macron-adorned vowels I settled on using AutoHotKey<\/a> v2 with Windows 11.<\/p>\n

This requires a configuration script, which is inside this zip file: Old English AHK file<\/a><\/p>\n

Simply double-click on that script file after installing AutoHotKey and the following key combinations (“#” denotes the “windows key” and capitals are obtained using the Shift key as usual) just work:<\/p>\n

To add a macron, hold Alt then the tap the chosen vowel -> \u0101, \u0113, \u014d, \u012b, \u016b , and \u0233
\n#+a -> \u00e6
\n#+Alt+a -> \u01e3
\n#+A -> \u00c6
\nAlt+t -> \u00fe
\nAlt+T -> \u00de
\nAlt+d -> \u00f0
\nAlt+D -> \u00d0
\nAlt+w -> \u01bf
\nAlt+W -> \u01f7<\/p>\n

The Alt key can also be used to get these:
\nAlt+c -> \u010b
\nAlt+g -> \u0121<\/p>\n
