Macclesfield Treacle Market

Shepherd's Hey for Audience Participation (and Jason Goes Wild)

Having had a good day out at the Macclesfield Treacle Market just before Christmas, at the invitation of Adlington Morris, although it was extremely busy, we decided another “out of season” outing was in order. The Treacle Market organisers were very welcoming, and the weather was as kind as you can expect in late February.… Continue reading Macclesfield Treacle Market

Fernilee Reservoir

We were wondering where to go for last outing of the summer… this pub, that pub??? But we don’t need a pub, do we… lets just think about a nice spot. Bingo, Fernilee Reservoir; there is a nice bit of tarmac road to nowhere in particular, and now the Toddbrook Dam emergency is over, a… Continue reading Fernilee Reservoir

Buxton Day of Dance Extra!

Dancing at the bottom of The Slopes in Buxton

Heaps of food for lunch in the nicely cool scout hut, but not so much to make the dancing uncomfortable in the afternoon. Thanks to Kate Ridley for… Continue reading A Day Out with Leek Morris

The Beehive Inn, Combs

Having had our initial booking for June 9th cancelled, we couldn’t just let it go. The Beehive we said! It’s one of the best Morris venues in the High Peak, so with a nod from the landlord, a skeleton crew descended on the spot…

The Fox Inn, Brookbottom

The Fox |nn is a lovely wayside pub in a backwater near New Mills. These days the tarmac ends, and the bridle-ways start at the pub. We were guests of our good friends at Chapel Morris (no longer Chapel Morris Men), managing to occupy the only piece of level ground nearby with fun-filled capering!

Cotton Tree, Bollington – The Bus Shelter Gig

Banks of the Three - Rounds

One of the less usual dance spots this, but the pub is very welcoming, plying us with free beer and pork pies. It was a barely-planned gig: “we’re all free, why dont we do something?” So we did! Followed by a brief-ish session in the pub.
